Located less than 10 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, Alhambra is known as the “Gateway to the San Gabriel Valley.” The town’s Spanish influence dates back to 1771 when a land grant led to the establishment of the nearby San Gabriel Mission. Real estate in Alhambra consists primarily of single-family homes, though some condominiums and townhouses are also available.

Alhambra’s favorable location provides access to a variety of recreational and cultural activities. While residents are very close to the sunny beaches along the Pacific Ocean, they are also within an hour and a half of the desert or a snowy mountain ski resort. Additionally, this quiet, charming town is only a couple of minutes from one of the nation’s most important business and entertainment centers.

Two city-run pools offer a number of special programs, including water aerobics, skin diving, youth and adult swim classes, lifeguard training and competitive swim teams. The city also provides classes for a range of activities, including badminton, baseball, basketball, dance, martial arts, soccer and volleyball to name just a few.

Alhambra also boasts a fun downtown with streets full of cute shops and a wide array of dining opportunities. On Friday and Saturday nights, residents can enjoy the live music and other street entertainment. Farmers’ markets are a popular weekly event.
